Like endlessly searching for something that doesn't exist.
Like a 12 gauge solution to a temporary problem.
Like watching a hatred grow because of what she said.
Like waking up to find your heroes dead.
And like witnessing a tyrant President's misuse of power...
We are the Nichols Family Gospel Hour.
Like shoveling dirt into a grave that gets deeper everyday.
Like dancing with devils in the dope smoke.
Like watching the angels cry as they tie your noose.
Like a tree slowly dying from being pissed on one too many times.
And like locusts rising from a ground that's gone sour...
We are the Nichols Family Gospel Hour.

The Beginning Tragedy

A young woman sits with a syringe in hand.
Thoughts of her little one are only faded memories of aborted parenthood.
She never cared and he is left to let the sickness continue.
For her fucked up ways, blaming the elder brother.
Now the brother is gone, so the blame rests like a grave.
Her destiny is near while her mother stares with no tears.
The bank account gets larger and living gets harder.
One cannot help but have sympathy for this beginning tragedy.

Lies.
Walking across the path of our regrets.
(Listen close, don't hesitate)
Don't walk away.
We're still not safe until we cast out our demons.
Cast out our demons.
Is it too much to accept this gift from the devil?
It was a gift from the devil.
Don't doubt that this is the gospel of the hour.
Your good father already knew you would fail.

The wise ones are gone and only us idiots are left.
We all ride pale horses in single file lines for the tattoo of death.
Come one come all.
The siren song blares the soundtrack to Armageddon and I stare out my window.
The people silently act out screams and cries and now I know it was not all a lie.
I lock my door and fall to the floor, there are no tears just my past regrets and future fears.
So now it starts.
So now it starts and the calender's marked "welcome to hell", it's 2012 and today is the day I missed the rapture.
It's ok.

White noise hums on the A.M while a light in the middle of the room flickers.
It causes a silent circus of dancing darkness on the four walls surrounding me.
My eyes gaze upwards at the grey cross, shadow cast by a still ceiling fan.
The silence is interrupted by the tapping of a flies wings on the windowpane.
My lungs exhale the last of my soul.
And alone here I try to think of the words Jesus would say.
As I lay stoned.
